Cucumbers

The presumed wild form of the cucumber comes from India. Today, cultivated forms are grown worldwide. The cucumber is the most cold-tolerant form of the pumpkin family and can therefore still be grown in northern Europe.

Although quite a lot of produce is now grown in Germany, we have been sourcing cucumbers from the Netherlands and Spain up to now. As with peppers, this depends on the season - in fall and winter the cucumbers come from Spain, in spring and summer from the Netherlands.

The cucumber consists of 95% water, but the remaining 5% is not to be sneezed at. This 5% contains numerous plant substances. Cucumbers contain fisetin, for example. This substance is said to help prevent Alzheimer's and dementia. Even if you are forgetful, you should eat cucumbers often.

It also contains substances that inhibit inflammation in the body. And even the 95% water contains substances that reduce the risk of certain types of cancer. In other words, a tasty and healthy vegetable through and through.

We often process cucumbers into cucumber sticks for our customers, which are used in products such as tzatziki or salad mixes. But other cuts are also possible at any time.

We can also supply you with the related gherkins in very small cubes, for example.
